When matched, some tiles give you resources to build your city. They include gold, supplies and food. Collect all three types of resources to buy buildings for your city.

You can buy buildings for your city in the game shop as soon as you get enough resources. To see the prices point your mouse cursor over the building's icon in the bottom of the screen.
